The Toshiba Portege Z835 may have been the least expensive laptop in our ultrabook test, but make no mistake — this super-light laptop is a power player, making it our budget buy recommendation. The Z835 was easily the lightest laptop in our test, weighing in at just over two pounds. Though it wasn't the top performer, the Toshiba offers great graphics and plenty of processing power to handle all of your computing needs. A handy quick-reference dashboard gives you updates on the status critical features like wireless and battery life and a generous array of ports mean you'll never have to worry about having the right connector. Our consumer testers were big fans of this system too, giving it stellar scores for nearly every attribute. In particular, volunteers loved the trackpad, with its distinct left- and right-mouse buttons (a rarity among ultrabooks). One big gripe though: the keyboard, which they described as "sticky" and found took some getting used to. Though we found this laptop to be plenty stable, its incredibly light weight left it feeling a little flimsy. The audio quality wasn't great either but, otherwise, it's difficult to find fault in this great portable pick.
